This interactive "capitals" game was really challenging. It is important that you not only know what the capital of each state is, but where the state is located on the map. Of course I knew most of the answers quickly, it would take a younger student that had a good grasp on this information. If you can do well in this game, then you've got the capitals and locations memorized. It is good that it times you because it adds some motivation and makes it feel like more of a game. I also like how it highlights the states you pick and gives you lots of tries. To improve this game, I would definately have the capital and state given together to reinforce what the child picked or what they didn't know. The game never says what state the capitals are in, just highlights them on the map. If a student had no idea, this game would serve very little purpose, unless the student memorized locations of capitals only (doubtful!). A teacher could use this game in a classroom to help her students review for a quiz/test on the capitals and states in the U.S. The game could only be used alongside instruction of this subject. The students would definately benefit from this game for review after they had studied and learned the information.
